Jaundice Journal BCPA Journal & index Jugular vein

Jaundice is caused by an accumulation in the blood of bilirubin, a yellow-brown bile pigment. The skin and whites of the eyes look yellowish. It is a disorder of the liver. This is quite common in newborn babies.

Joule. See Joule under Calorie.

Journal. One meaning is a regular publication that contains serious articles on a subject, based on research and previous publications. Eg British Medical Journal BMJ, The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine NEJM, …

The BCPA Journal BCPA J has similar articles in six issues per year. I, Dr Richard Maddison, was appointed Editor in 2005 and continued till 2015. An index starting forwards from J142 is below. It only gives articles that are not News from the areas, nor From me to you articles by Keith Jackson, nor AGM weekend matters, nor adverts, nor advertorials.

Back numbers from about J142 in 2005 till some time ago, but not recent ones, are available on the BCPA website at http://www.bcpa.eu/PreviousJournals.htm. Our BCPA policy is not to put on the website back issues within the last few months or perhaps a year. From say the BCPA website home page click on Downloads near the top right, then about five lines down click on Download here, then click on the journal issue that you want, and scroll down to the relevant page.

For the index to Recipes see Recipes index.

I use the short form J173p12 to mean Journal Issue 173 page 12.

J141-145 were in 2005; J146-151 in 2006, J152-157 in 2007; J158-163 in 2008; J164-170 in 2009; J170-J175 in 2010; J176-J181 in 2011, J182-J187 in 2012; J188-193 are in 2013; J194-199 are in 2014; J200-205 are in 2015; J206-211 are in 2016; J212-217 are in 2017.

The following gives an index to BCPA Journal articles that someone might want to look up as explained above. In many cases the journal articles give sources and further information than the Glossary entries. If a reference seems to be wrong, try one issue earlier or later. If you find any errors, please email me rmaddison8@gmail.com
